Color 101:
Color and its function, learning how to see color: Learning Units: 2

In Color 101 students will learn how to describe the interpretations of color, from the scientific biology of the eye, to learning how to see color as its applied to architectural structures and making our natural environments harmonious with our built environments. They will be able to identify properties of color and the psychological/physiological effects that each color has on the human response. These affects will alter color placement depending on the texture, exposure of materials and lighting of an area. Students will solve the complexities of color selection by simplifying the process through the incorporation of the color wheel and color harmonies to utilize sensible color placement on an interior or exterior. Lastly, they will understand how form and color go hand in hand, for each color there is a form and using this combination correctly can impact all architectural elements and increase the knowledge about eco-friendly structures.
